X (Twitter) status URLs and public media

A video on X is attached to a **status**, not to a profile. The URL you want looks like `https://x.com/name/status/1234567890` or the same path on `twitter.com`. The [X/Twitter Video Downloader](/tools/twitter-video-downloader) accepts both. A profile URL, a Community tab, or a `t.co` wrapper that never resolved is the wrong paste.

x.com and twitter.com

Same status id. Copy either. `mobile.twitter.com` is still Twitter’s host family.

oEmbed is gone

Twitter used to hand out unauthenticated oEmbed for public Tweets. X retired that product. Tools that still “just work” on every tweet are usually logged-in scrapers or unofficial proxies. RootoverZero does not use those. We parse public tags when X still emits them, and we fail when X serves a login wall to the worker.

Protected, deleted, age-gated

A lock on the account is a hard no. Deleted statuses 404. Sensitive-media interstitials may also block guests.

Quote tweets

Copy the status that **hosts the video**, not only the quote. The outer tweet may have no media tags.

Threads

One analysis, one status. There is no “download the thread” action.

FAQ

Can I use a t.co link?

Resolve it to x.com first.

Do Spaces work?

No. A Space is not a status video file.
